What tasks on Windows feel repetitive? Which operations would you like to simplify or automate?
Hello everyone, I'm developing a tool called 'Fidl' aimed at making Windows easier for advanced users. The core concept is to streamline interactions with the operating system. For instance, some programs are difficult to launch—this is why I included a 'Run Panel' option that lets you open frequently used windows with just one click. Besides the main simplification, I've added features like a file explorer that go beyond basic window management. If anyone has suggestions for improvements, such as menus you find cumbersome or tasks like changing CPU names (which are already part of Fidl), please share your ideas. I understand this is still in an early stage, so any feedback is welcome. You can download it from DropBox, and it includes automatic update notifications. (Note: I'm aware this is still Alpha, and I apologize if it doesn't function perfectly or looks unpolished despite thorough testing.) Thank you for your support!
It is a WPF app It's in the 'Credits and Information' window: Spoiler
I don’t possess any special talent to hide from you, and I haven’t discovered it anywhere. What bothers me most is reinstalling the OS on every device, wiping out malware in Windows 10, and turning off updates—things I’d rather skip if they weren’t so repetitive.
Personally I don<|pad|>, though I see room for improvement in its appearance. I don’t have a dedicated design team; I just try to make it resemble the first idea that comes to mind. Plus, skip the logo—I just borrowed it from GTA Vice City or something. Right now I’m working on my own logo. That’s a solid point; I’ll definitely include this in Fidl.
You often reinstall Windows across multiple devices for various reasons, and having three computers that perform similar tasks can become frustrating. There might be a tool like this available that could simplify the process, helping you eliminate unnecessary files and other tasks you do regularly. It could be a great solution to streamline your setup.
Really impressive effort! Congratulations on completing your project. The final stage of software development is often the toughest. What remains is documentation, a website, and all the other details, which can be particularly challenging for many. I admire seeing the dedication of a developer. Creating something isn’t always straightforward, and even simple tools can be difficult to perfect, especially when you aim for a polished appearance. There’s still much work ahead. I’m confident it’s still evolving. It’s definitely impressive. Feel free to share your thoughts if you’d like feedback on this. As a suggestion, I’d like to see something similar to AIDA64 but lighter and more affordable. Some features I’d appreciate include full system specifications, current CPU and GPU temperatures (maybe a challenge), and integrating CCleaner with a cleanup system—avoiding the registry, which is often ineffective. This could help prevent issues later when Windows updates or OS changes occur. If you’re up for a challenge, adding something not covered in the original list could be valuable. Right now, there’s no clear solution, but it would definitely stand out. This kind of software could strengthen your resume. Most job seekers in tech only highlight their grades, but with something like this, you demonstrate passion, energy, and a real problem-solving mindset—not just doing what’s assigned.
