I am transitioning from an intel core 15 10400 to a Ryzen 5 5600x or Ryzen 7 5800x with an MSI B550 gaming gen 3. I’m facing issues with crashes in games like Apex and Rocket League, but I’m unsure how to make the change. I thought backing up my data on an SSD and reinstalling Windows 10 would help, but I’m still confused. I’m really new to PC hardware and want some simple guidance. Could you please assist me and explain it in a clear way?
Where is the confusion? Going from one platform (Intel) to a completely different platform (AMD) requires you to completely start with a blank slate, in other words, a full reinstallation of Windows. Or are you confused by how to install Windows? Here's a guide, it's for Windows 10 but it's applicable to Windows 11 as well -

The process of checking for corrupt files probably won’t solve this kind of issue. It only applies to a limited range of file system problems.
Your CPU performance isn’t the issue here either. Even if there’s a significant gap between your CPU and GPU—something not present in this case—the outcome wouldn’t cause crashes or blue screens. And if your CPU couldn’t keep up with the 4060, that wouldn’t help either—so why would a CPU with similar capability improve things?
Are you experiencing temperature concerns? What’s the situation? Which cooler are you using? Why did you upgrade from the previous model? What temperatures are being recorded? I’m still trying to grasp your approach; why would you spend a lot on a lower-grade cooler without any real effort to fix the problem?
the cooler i recently put in was a Thermalright Assassin X 120 Se Air Cooler, replacing my old Intel stock one. i followed all the instructions carefully and didn't use too much thermal paste. during idle it stayed at 36 degrees celsius, but when running most games it reached around 50 to 60 degrees celsius. however, crashes started occurring, and i'm still trying to figure out why. don't worry, i haven't spent any money on Ryzen yet—just trying to understand this situation before making a decision. i'm kind of confused, but yeah.
if the temperatures you're experiencing are accurate then overheating isn't a concern.
