I’ve experienced a booting issue where the PC doesn’t respond at startup. Initially, when I power on the machine, there’s no signal detected. After repeatedly restarting or resetting it multiple times, a signal appears and everything functions normally. This problem began after I reset my PC using the Windows installation media, which coincided with my monitor shutting down. Since then, fans spin, the keyboard is off, but the mouse lights up. I suspect the power supply unit might be faulty, but I don’t want to replace it or buy a new motherboard. I’ve tried various fixes like resetting RAM, changing slots, using an iGPU, removing and reinserting components, verifying the monitor isn’t the issue, booting into BIOS without signal, and updating Windows. All attempts have failed to resolve the situation.

This scenario, with a system of this era, raises worries about investing significant resources into repairs. Where are you situated?

It hurts. A trip to Atl won't help you save money for the build. Do you have a budget option in mind for an upgrade?

What are you planning to do with this computer? It doesn't seem ideal for gaming, right? Are you simply looking at it or working on assignments?

which specific model is it?
thermaltake provides a wide range of budget-friendly models that aren't suited for heavy use.
you really should get a new unit.
based on your existing hardware;
just begin saving whenever you can towards a good modern setup.
your current parts are around 13-14 years old and weren’t even top-tier back then.
if you enjoy PC gaming, or plan to, or need this for any modern tasks that require strong performance;
perhaps this coming Christmas could be the start of building a solid system?

this current MI-X81075CD model PSU isn't suitable for powering most dedicated GPUs. i wouldn't install it in any system, as they pose risks to connected parts and could even be fire hazards. the GTX 970 needs at least a solid 500-600w power supply, depending on the specific model. you can check PSU tier lists or join the dedicated thread here at Tom's to find a suitable option among what's available.
