I assumed I understood what I was doing when I set up my C drive using cmd, intending to reinstall Windows via a USB drive. Yet, the C drive seems completely missing, though a “drive x” is visible. When trying to reinstall Windows with the USB, there’s no drive available for selection. Please help me resolve these issues. Thanks in advance.

Does the drive show up when booting into BIOS?
You didn't put important details in your post like complete PC build information or what version of windows you are trying to reinstall. Sorry but most people can't read your mind. If the drive does not show up in the BIOS either you have an installation error or the drive is most likely bad.

Sorry, I assumed all PCs are similar. I’m trying to reinstall Windows 11 again. I don’t have detailed knowledge about the specific hardware, but I’m confident it should work with Windows 11. It’s a Sager laptop, so… if anyone has tips or a guide on resolving these issues, it would be really helpful. Thanks!

These are two images I can share. You’ll notice there’s no space to install Windows here. It’s also clear the drive is labeled as x.

It seems like the connection is faulty or the drive isn't functioning properly.

Completely damaged? You only changed the formatting to C with a command. Is there anything further you can do?

The OS reinstall did not need a preceding "format".
But if the Windows install does not see a drive to install to, there isn't much to be done.

I assumed we'd have to set up the drive first. That means I might actually require a completely different machine now?

NO, not a whole new PC. (probably)
That image is just showing the drive is not connected, or not working.
Verify it is still connected properly.
If it appears to be, possibly try a new drive.
If that fails, then the motherboard may be faulty. Key words..'may be'.
