What steps should I take to address this sensitivity issue following the firmware update?
Hello everyone.
I'm facing a serious issue that has been worrying me over the past few weeks, and I haven't found any solution yet. I'm really in need of assistance.
My xtrfy m4 mouse had its firmware updated using the one available on xtrfy's official site. Because of some paranoid concerns, I ended up updating more than once (a couple of times, honestly). After that, my mouse sensitivity became erratic and inconsistent—something noticeable even when playing CSGO. Initially, I thought it might be a broken mouse, but after testing three other mice, the problem still remained.
So we can rule out a hardware issue with the mouse.
I'm going to list everything I've already tried:
- Updated the motherboard BIOS
- Deleted everything on the hard drive and reinstalled Windows via a USB drive
- Updated all drivers
- Switched the mouse (as mentioned before)
- Checked the Windows sensitivity settings and disabled acceleration for the pointer
- Downloaded and attempted the Markc mouse fix
And finally, the most extreme step I took: installed a brand new motherboard and SSD.
Unfortunately, none of these solutions worked—even the new components didn't resolve the issue. I can't enjoy playing CSGO anymore. I've tried adjusting my game settings to compensate, but every change feels bad and my performance drops significantly. I'm just not having fun anymore.
I've exhausted all options and am reaching out for any help possible.

It could be just your imagination or perhaps a fresh mousepad is needed. You switched to a new motherboard, but it seems to work differently with various mice, suggesting these components might not be affected by such changes. Adjusting the firmware on one mouse alone wouldn't resolve the issue for others.
When examining the right mouse, is it wireless? Are there any adjustable "dpi" options, like on one of the buttons? If it's wireless, have you tried placing the mouse and dongle as near as possible together? Are there other wireless or Bluetooth devices in the same room?
When the issue first showed up, I thought I was making a mistake, but after repeatedly updating the same mouse firmware to test, I realized it actually got worse. The evidence that it’s a real problem lies in the sensitivity settings I used in my CSGO game. Before, I played with 400 dpi and 2.0 sens, now I have to stick to 400 dpi and 0.9 something (changing constantly because nothing feels right). This doesn’t make sense since updating the mouse firmware should only affect that device. I ended up trying a new graphics card because it was the only thing that came to mind due to the USB ports. What do you think? Is there any chance the issue isn’t related to another component?
