whether it's msi afterburner or aorus engine i set it to preset clock speeds that are base=1410 and boost= 1725 but they still overclock to 1800-2000 mhz which heats up my gpu rapidly to reach my set max temp (83°c). throttle during games causing stutters and destroying the whole purpose of gaining performance, is there any settings i can use to stop it from automatically overclocking? card is gigabyte rtx 2070 gaming oc

For instance, the EVGA Precision X1 is compatible exclusively with Turing cards, and allows you to secure the boost frequency at any desired setting.

Which RTX 2070 model are you using? What type of case do you have? How many and what dimensions are your case fans? GPU Boost 4.0 enables performance beyond the advertised maximum clock speeds, so maintaining proper cooling is more important than limiting speed.

Since Maxwell, nVidia's GPU Boost has shifted the focus from a maximum boost clock to a more practical target for average performance. You might consider reducing the boost clock further, but the upcoming GPU Boost 4.0 in Turing introduces extra user-adjustable options, making it worth exploring updated overclocking software.

Reduce maximum temperature and aim for lower power output.

If the MSI afterburner fails, it seems like there are no other options left.
