What steps are needed to configure World of Warcraft for 4k HDR display?
World of Warcraft displays washed-out colors even with Ultra or High settings and DX12. I've adjusted the settings numerous times but still can't achieve a satisfactory result. Could it be that something is missing, or is HDR not supported in WoW? I've watched some YouTube videos suggesting HDR compatibility, which seem to work well. HDR appears to function properly with movies and TV, except for Forza Horizon 4, which performed excellently when using Ultra, HDR, and 4K. I upgraded my system last week and still need to upgrade my game library! Here are my recent system details:

Change one element at a time and verify performance, particularly with games like WoW that show faded colors. Avoid modifying the registry or using external software tools.
I don't think WoW supports HDR. The best options are DX12 and ray tracing for shadows.
Absolutely, the setting you mentioned was active before, and turning it off didn't noticeably change things. I switched to Windows 10 recently and didn't recall the exact names of those options. DX12 and Ray Tracing were both enabled in the game settings, which did affect graphics quality, though the overall performance remained inferior to my previous system with a 1070 at 1440p resolution.
