PC Specifications
Motherboard: MSI X99S Gaming 9
CPU: i7 - 5820K
GPU: MSI GTX 970
RAM: Corsair Vengeance LPX (4 x 4gb) 2666Mhz DDR4
PSU: Corsair RM 1000W
Watercooling: Corsair H100i
Case: Corsair Air 540 White
Hi this is my final build from about ten years ago.
I’m planning to upgrade my GPU. What suggestions do you have?
I already have dual monitors and a PC I just built last year. This will be my second machine.
My budget for the GPU is around 200$, but it can increase if there are valid reasons.
Regards

Is your editing or rendering program equipped with GPU acceleration? Regarding the RTX 3050, it offers approximately 50% improved performance compared to the GTX 970.

Is your PSU ten years old?
I’m considering changing my GPU.
If you’re upgrading for gaming, think about an RTX 2060 or RTX 2070 Super. If not, you might not need to switch platforms. For GPUs from Nvidia or AMD, the RX 6600 could be a better fit.
You might also explore the RX 6600;

Hi there.
Yes, it's a 10-year-old PSU and it doesn't change much, yet it still works.
I recently purchased a new PC for gaming at 1440p resolution.
It's mainly used for editing and rendering (my second PC).
Would you prefer a model from the 2060 or 2070 series?
In Asia, it's quite difficult to find a new 20xx series.
Adding another point: if I bought a second 20xx series, how would I verify the GPU is suitable?
Should I run benchmarks, test physically, or look for advice?
Thanks!

I am a bit confused. Is the request to replace the card that failed in the older build, or is the card for the new 1440 build?
If the latter is the case, please list complete spec for the newer build.
Blanket answer without knowing your own market conditions would be to consider a used RX 6600 XT or similar. Here in the states you can routinely find them ~$180 or so. Alongside that I would ask what type sync your monitors use. The AMD card is going to want Free Sync compatible monitors and will work best using DP cables. If V-Sync on HDMI, you would be best with an NVIDIA or Intel card.

So I already have my main PC. The changes I made were just for editing (reels and YouTube videos)—maybe not 4K either. This setup is meant to use a 1080p dual monitor.

I work with photoshop, omb, and capcut. I don't need to adjust my PSU.

Photoshop and capcut support GPU acceleration. The question about the OMB remains unclear. It seems your PSU should manage even an RTX 4090 without issues.
