I’m considering Freelancer’s 300i Aurora Cutlass or The Avenger. Since you favor dogfighting, exploration, and cargo transport, go with the one that fits those needs best.

The options range widely across different types of vessels. In the game, there are three main paths: 1) DUR – a budget-friendly choice focused on exploration, sacrificing cargo space for improved jump performance and fuel efficiency. 2) MAX – ideal for transporting large amounts of goods, featuring double cargo capacity and enhanced thrusters. 3) 300 series – an upgrade from the Aurora, offering more comfort and specialized roles, though some features need in-game upgrades.

The 300 hundred series builds on the Aurora with added comfort and better specialization, while the 300i is a versatile option that will require further upgrades. The 315p is tailored for exploration, equipped with a jump drive and scanner, plus upgraded thrusters and power.

The 325a is a fighter from the 300 series, but it seems less appealing given your Hornet ownership. The 350r is designed for racing and comes at a lower price point.

The cutlass offers a more agile version of the Freelancer, though it’s not detailed enough yet.

Avenger provides additional cargo space, mainly in the form of prisoner pods, and is suited for bounty hunting or smuggling. It’s a fighter, so it overlaps with your Hornet.

In summary, you might want to consider the Freelancer (stock or MAX), 300i, 315p, or cutlass based on your priorities—budget, role, and how you plan to use them. The choice really depends on your budget and goals within the economy. (*Speculative*)

Based on your diverse approach, I’d lean toward Avenger or Cutlass. Avenger excels in quick bursts or stealthy engagements, while Cutlass offers more firepower but demands more resources and has a weaker defense. (Once shields are down) Cutlass can travel further with a single refuel. Avenger boasts the largest main gun among ships up to the Constellation, though it needs to trade fuel pods for missiles. Keep in mind that using a size 5 gun on Avenger requires constant attention to power levels or heat management. If you’re playing solo, Avenger provides a solid compromise between efficiency and effectiveness.

While buying, my main thoughts were about getting value and strategy. Aurora LX stood out as a nice low-profile cruiser perfect for exploration with excellent visibility and a solid spot to start investing early. The Hornet F7A-M was sought after for its strong dogfighting capability, even though it’s the A hull—definitely worth the risk for a good cause. The Freelancer MAX was an affordable cargo ship aimed at making quick profits, which would make acquiring future ships more manageable and reduce unnecessary spending in the game.

You can choose any play style and acquire the largest cargo vehicle you can afford to generate quick profits. After that, you can purchase multiple ships.
