What should I do—upgrade to a new GPU or build one myself?
What should I do—upgrade to a new GPU or build one myself?
I assembled this PC in early 2020 and it performed well for the games I played. Fortnite, Apex, and Rocket League all ran smoothly with over 100 fps and even 200 on 1080p. When I moved to Warzone, I noticed drops in FPS and frequent screen freezes. I’m unsure what to do but I want to stream comfortably at 1440p and maintain around 100 fps. I’m not sure if I need a better GPU or a full system overhaul. Thanks for any advice—here’s my build.
Your CPU features 8 cores and 16 threads, which is adequate. But upgrading RAM to 32 GB and opting for a more powerful GPU, such as the RTX 3000 series, would be beneficial. If you intend to use an RTX 3080 or higher, you might also need a more robust power supply unit.
For streaming, you have two choices:
One strong PC capable of handling games and streaming.
Two PCs—your current one for gaming and a second one solely for streaming, equipped with a capture card.
A streaming PC doesn’t require high performance; even a modest setup can work. It also doesn’t need a dedicated GPU.

- A single high-performance PC capable of handling games and streaming.
- Two PCs: one for gaming and another dedicated to streaming, equipped with a capture card.
The streaming PC doesn’t require high specifications; even a modest machine can suffice. Additionally, it doesn’t need a dedicated GPU.

A two-PC setup would be more affordable since you only need to purchase the streaming PC and capture card.
If your existing PC struggles to reach around 100 FPS at 2K without streaming, you may also need to upgrade it.
