I already asked for something like this in this post: https://forums. But the suggestions didn't fix the issue unfortunately. For whatever reason only in Overwatch does my GPU not boost much. It sits around 1500MHz instead of boosting up to ~1900MHz. Because of this I can't get a stable frame rate of 144+ which really infuriating. Is there any way to force my GPU to run at a higher core clock? My GPU sits around 50c while playing, so there is a lot of headroom. I have a computer with an INNO3D 2080 Gaming OC X3. I tried pushing the processor up to 1.75 gigahertz and the memory clock speed to 750 megahertz, but it did not work better without changing any voltage settings.
Do you use MSI Afterburner? If yes, set both the voltage and temperature sliders all the way up. That card has a boost clock speed of 1800MHz by the manufacturer specs. Try changing your overclocking settings to see if you can get more performance out of it. And what is the highest frequency (in MHz) that this card actually hits?
The problem stays even though the card only wants to go up to 1915MHz, which is its maximum speed. It should be higher than that. What I've seen is that the card only boosts high enough when it needs to push out about 100 to 180 frames per second. So if nothing happens, it barely goes up for a lot of fps, but when lots happen, the card has to boost a bit to make sure it can keep pushing out all those frames. I don't know why it just doesn't stay boosted the whole time while I'm playing.
Well, it makes sense because when the graphics card gets too busy, it slows down its speed. This happens all the time when I play Fortnite. You can see my core clock drop to the idle setting. Is your core clock slowing down while you are playing or is it just during a pause like loading?
It happens all the time in games. If only my computer could stay above 144 frames per second without ever dropping back down, that would be much better. When there is a sudden heavy load, the number of frames drops and then goes up again after a few seconds. This makes lag feel very annoying. I still don't know why this happens to me.
Here are a few things to try: check that your CPU isn't getting too hot or causing lag spikes, and also turn on "Maximum Performance" in your NVIDIA settings. You might want to look at other people's lag spike reports and core clock drops because they suggest better cooling for the CPU.
I played some Overwatch - Total Mayhem because it was too much going on in the game at all times. My CPU got hot at about 65 degrees and used around 60 percent, while my GPU sat at mid-range temperatures between 60 and 100 degrees with roughly 60 percent usage. The graphics card mostly ran at 1920 megahertz, but it often dropped down to about 1500, 1600, or even 1700 megahertz. My frames per second never went above 144; sometimes I got down to around 100 or 120 fps, and occasionally I hit over 144 fps. Even though I had maximum performance turned on, what should I do now?
I have a problem with Minecraft on my GTX 1080 Ti. Usually, I set the boost to 1949 MHz or even 2000 MHz when overclocking the GPU, but in Minecraft, it never exceeds 1569 MHz. When I tested it with a GTX 1060 3GB yesterday, everything was perfect and the game ran at double the frame rate compared to my old card, but only inside Minecraft. On Shadow of the Tomb Raider at 1080p, the GTX 1080 Ti hits about 110 fps even when boosting to its maximum frequency, while the GTX 1060 runs at just 45-50 fps.
