What settings should I adjust for overclocking my CPU?
Although a manual overclock offers advantages when paired with the appropriate motherboard and MCE, the i9's boost clocks can hit 4.9 ghz. That’s impressive. However, your power supply and cooling system will play a crucial role.
What type of cooling system are you using? Which voltage does your power supply unit provide? How are the temperatures of your CPU when idle and under load?
Simple solution. Turn on MCE. If your system can manage it, with sufficient power and cooling to handle that configuration without issues, you can override it.
If MCE exceeds practical limits, it's better to use a high-performance mainstream CPU in stock settings instead.
I'm using the H100i for CPU cooling. My PSU is 850 watts. The room temperature would be about 100°F, and during stress it reached roughly 150°F.
It seems my CPU was already receiving a boost; I increased the frequency from 3.5GHz to about 4.5GHz, but I didn't notice it. My temperatures are normal, around 98F at idle and about 140F while playing GTA 5.
