I’m looking for guidance to improve my current rigging setup and avoid performance issues. I’m considering upgrading from the FX-8370 because I’ve heard the Piledriver design isn’t ideal, the system doesn’t meet the minimum requirements for the Oculus Rift S, and I’m concerned about longevity compared to a Ryzen processor. I prefer Ryzen over Intel since I’m an AMD enthusiast. If possible, I’d like to wait for a fourth-generation Ryzen model that might offer better performance than today’s options. I have the following details at hand: target resolution of 1920x1080, aiming for 60fps, with low-end graphics such as the 1060 and 16GB RAM. I’m also using it for light editing, streaming, web browsing, and Unity level editing. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated, especially something that minimizes bottlenecks. Thank you!

I’d consider getting a new Ryzen 3 CPU, like the 3300 or 3100 models.

I would hold off on purchasing b550 motherboards until they become compatible with future needs.

Notice that a 3100 can match the performance of the 3300x even with the stock cooler in question

I've heard that as well, but I haven't increased the speed because warnings say it may reduce the product's lifespan.

You're able to maintain a consistent overclock for extended periods without encountering problems.

You're welcome on the update, though I was under the impression it was a major part of the lifespan. After checking the PC myths video from Jay'sTwoCents, it seems CPUs can actually endure quite a bit before they fail.

Absolutely, opt for the 3300X. Choosing the 3100 doesn't make much sense.
