CPU-Z displays 1066 MHz with double data rate as 2166 MHz, but it lists DDR4-2666. Could the RAM be 1333MHz yet only running at 2166 MHz? I'm checking because I might switch builds and want to know if this RAM can handle faster speeds later. Also, the new build I saw uses 1333MHz and claims to be upgradable to 2666MHz.

It might be 2666, but the i7 6700 only reaches 2133. @Lurking Pop open the hood and look at the sticker on the DIMM.

The stick is designed for 2666 overclocking, but the motherboard operates at 2133 regardless. The SPD section lists its claimed capabilities, while the Memory section reflects its actual performance.

The label indicates 2666, but my checks show different numbers on other systems. My i7-6700 runs at 2166, and the i7-7700K is at 2133 on an ASRock H170M-Pro4. I adjusted the BIOS to 2400 for both.

Based on what I understand, this setup will involve both the processor running on the system and a proprietary HP board. Manual RAM overclocking or adjusting BIOS speed settings aren<|pad|>, which is not possible here. On the HP Z240, performance will be limited to 2133 regardless of any additional components you install. Even if a more powerful kit is available, it can't be altered.
