What RAM should I choose?
The optimal speed is influenced by your CPU and motherboard. For the H610 board, you're restricted to DDR5-4800 since that chipset doesn't allow memory overclocking. With B660, B760, H670, Z690 or Z790 boards, you can generally achieve nearly any desired speed. Most 12th generation chips in real-world use cap around DDR5-6400, so it's best to stay within that range. What kind of RAM upgrade are you considering? Are you aiming for more storage space?
I upgraded from 16GB DDR5 to 32GB DDR5 and verified compatibility with 4800MHz DDR5 RAM.
Consider the price-performance balance in your area. In the US, DDR5-6000 CL30 is typical. Prices drop significantly below that spec, but going above it becomes costly. Keep in mind, lower CL values mean better performance—DDR5-6000 CL34 is slower than CL30. Generally, you’ll find RAM with 10ns CAS latency before costs rise sharply, such as DDR5-6400 CL32, DDR5-6000 CL30, DDR5-5600 CL28, or DDR5-5200 CL26.
