What psu to choose
The thread name indicates which PSU to choose for upcoming components. I’m planning to upgrade from an Asus B660 Tuf D4 i5 12400f in the future to an i7 from the 13th generation. I’ll be using a thermalright pearless assassin 120 cooler, and I intend to install MSI RTX 3060 with 12GB of RAM, around 32GB total. There will be 2 Arctic 140 fans front and possibly a switch to an exhaust fan on the bottom and rear. Regarding the PSU, is it necessary for it to be gold quality, or can I get by with a bronze one? I’ve seen some used units with gold and platinum certifications, but I’m a bit doubtful about using something that’s already been used for a long time. My brother reassures me that as long as it’s platinum, it should last a long time, even though I don’t fully believe in that idea. Cheers.
For storage I possess 250 gb Samsung Evo Plus and 970, along with a silicon power of 500 gb from the previous build.
Tell me about your budget for the PSU purchase, your location, and which site you favor for buying it.
I've been aiming for around $80 to $100 for it, but since I'm from Serbia and taxes add a significant extra—about 20% more than in the US, Canada, or Australia—I think the best option right now is the Thermaltake Smart B2 600W for about $80. Other third-party sites like eBay have models such as the MWE Gold V2 750W for $95, which offers similar power, but the Thermaltake seems more practical for me.
I basically understand I can get smart B2 for $80. I believe it will run smoothly for about two years at least. If upgrading becomes necessary, I could sell it for half the price I paid while it's still under warranty. I usually play esports titles on a 1080p, 144Hz monitor, and I think I won't need an upgrade for a long time—though I appreciate a second opinion!
