You should be fine keeping the same PSU, but it's better to confirm compatibility before purchasing a new one.

Welcome to the forums, newcomer!
Corsair's don't have a bronze rated PSU within the RM series. You might be thinking about the CX series instead. How old is this unit, and what has it been running for today?
Where are you based, what is your budget for buying a PSU, and which store do you prefer—ATX or an SFX build?

yeah, i meant cx mb. i bought the unit in 2023 may and it powered my 1060 6gb and i5 7600k. i live in canada and i want to spend no more than $100. i also don’t want to compromise on a psu, so i asked for recommendations. usually i check amazon or canadiancomputers, but i’m not sure about atx or sfx.

I’m going to ask this again because my previous question didn’t get fully answered. I’m planning to get a CPU with a new motherboard and RAM from a friend. I have an i9 11900k, a 3060 Ventus, and a 650 psu bronze. I was wondering if the 850 PSU would be suitable for this setup. When I asked my friend, they suggested using an 850 PLAT to prevent any components from overheating over time. I’ve been using the PSU for about a year and a half, and my GPU is a year old.

It's the grey labelled CX unit, isn't it? If that's the case, you should be okay. I would consider a higher quality PSU, such as a 750W or more unit because of the transient load spikes. Just ensure the components you purchase have the required number of connectors for your PSU. If your PSU doesn't have those connectors for your parts, then you either have the wrong parts for your build or the wrong PSU for your parts. Please keep it to one thread.

For sure, this friend is getting you a good deal for $100 on those components. I believe the PSU should work well in the short run, but you'll want to manage the CPU closely. Make sure to plan for adequate cooling as well.

they're not charging too much for those sections. the 3-piece combo is priced at 400, which is still reasonable. do you have any tracking programs set up to monitor this? i think i'll receive a new case with built-in cooling fans.

Core Temps, HWI, there are many temperature monitoring programs available.
I suggest using an AIO or a highly durable air cooler.
