I intend to purchase a build featuring a Ryzen 1600 processor and an ASRock B350 Pro4 motherboard. I'm curious about the potential overclocking performance with the stock cooler and would appreciate suggestions for an improved motherboard option.
There's not a lot of OCing headroom on Ryzen chips, regardless of the board used - especially while using the stock cooler.
3.8GHz maybe..... and that's if you luck out and don't have to use much additional voltage.
The difference between a basic B350 and a higher end X370 board has been negligible from what I've seen (although the same OC can be achieved, the X370 boards could do it with a little less voltage).

Between B350 and X370, the comparison holds true. However, it isn't as if one consistently operates at critical temperatures compared to the other being completely safe. The B350 might have a slight edge in VRMs overall, but due to its limited headroom, it's not overly concerning. *The B350 is generally stable, though there are definitely some mediocre units and a few that could be considered top-tier.* It's unlikely to be a deal-breaker, but expect variations.
