I believe using procedurally generated content, when implemented well, could enhance a game. Conversations with NPCs often seem too rigid, so I think exploring games like No Man's Sky would be interesting. (I’m a bit behind the curve) Was there any controversy surrounding No Man's Sky?
Procedurally created maps have existed for quite some time. I'm referring to experiences that feel more personalized for each session. If the AI could adapt to your actual playstyle and provide relevant answers, it would be truly groundbreaking. With sufficient complexity in map generation, endless playthroughs could become possible. However, this also brings challenges, especially when trying to balance monetization effectively.
I believe it would also be interesting (though uncertain) to have a procedurally created storyline that adapts based on decisions made in an RPG, ensuring each player experiences something unique. It could also involve an infinite scaling system for games, where characters and challenges grow without a fixed maximum level and enemies keep evolving endlessly.
Infinite leveling simply means staying consistently at a similar level with whatever you're interacting with. Continuous effort.
This is what I was trying to convey. There are various ways to initiate story changes, and the more organized they are, the more likely people will share very comparable experiences. Instead of relying on question prompts or choices, imagine using voice or text input where each NPC remembers past conversations. Rather than picking from fixed questions, you'd need to ask targeted questions to get meaningful answers. Each NPC would follow the main story threads but not all aspects, and there could be a system where your interactions gradually influence others, building your reputation over time. Instead of immediate 'wanted' labels, moving quickly enough would make you nearly invisible.
Such a setup would be very complex and likely impractical, requiring advanced data systems and cloud processing that would be too costly to sustain long-term.
Still, it would be really appealing and might turn gaming sessions into something even more enjoyable. I’d definitely enjoy playing a game with these qualities if one were ever made available.
