My old Sentey 650w power supply failed, so I'm looking for a replacement now. I have an AMD Phenom II X4 955 CPU, an RX 580 2048P, a N68-VS3 motherboard, 512GB and 10GB DDR3 RAM. On Facebook marketplace I found two options: EVGA 650W (non-80 Plus, 52 AMP 12 volt rail) or EVGA 500W (80 Plus white, 40 AMP 12 volt rail). Which one should I pick? Both have the 8-pin PCI-E cable I need.

Neither the EVGA W1 nor N1 fit well into any PC equipped with a GPU needing extra power. If these are the models you have in mind, they seem worn out, particularly the 650W N1 version, which only adds to the issue.

These are the sole choices my dad offered for purchasing a PSU. I own an RX 580 Sapphire and an AMD Phenom II X4 955 CPU. If I don’t have extra funds to upgrade, which one should I pick?

Let your dad know about the possibility of needing another PSU and maybe a new GPU later. Cheap PSUs can be quite costly.

It seems like you're questioning EVGA's performance with PS3 power supplies.
