genuinely, GPU support is still in the early stages. Windows 10 isn’t improving much except for Nvidia’s older models like 1080 and below. Nvidia intends to extend support for newer cards until October 2026, but Microsoft’s decisions could change suddenly—like a magic trick out of nowhere. Personally, I’d switch to an AM4 B550 and a 5700X (avoiding the confusion about PCIe Gen 3). If you’re not ready to spend a lot, keeping it affordable is the best choice. Just make sure your Windows 10 is tied to an email account, not the actual hardware.

Kidney prices are more in line with RAM. Two sticks of RAM per weight.

This plan seems promising but we should act quickly before everything sells out. Many people will realize the same thing soon. X3D versions are already harder to find, even secondhand, and prices are climbing too high. No one produces DDR4 any more, so supplies will dwindle soon. Driver support isn’t a major issue either—old ones should work just fine. For Windows, using an MS account is recommended and won’t cause problems with different hardware. Licenses for Windows 10 and 11 are the same and can be swapped easily.

Initial challenges.
If necessary, simply switch to Win 11 that isn’t supported in a year. Of course, future updates might cause problems since they’ll be tested on such a setup, but for a gaming rig that shouldn’t pose much trouble—just keep backups ready in case you need to revert. The present version 25H2 will remain compatible until October 12, 2027, allowing you to stay until the AI market cools down and prices stabilize, even if 26H2 turns out incompatible.
It’s not the same as when Rufus could only perform a clean install of Win 11 on unsupported systems; now Flyby11/FlyOOBE enables an in-place upgrade.
Outdated GPU drivers will still function as before, though games released afterward might bring graphical issues—such as the Fermi driver ending with version v391.35 in 2018 and Shadow of the Tomb Raider from that year already displaying serious texture problems.
However, someone without funds shouldn’t be expected to purchase the newest AAA titles anyway...

his rig already has 16gb x2 of DDR4, so it doesn't require an additional RAM upgrade—just a CPU and motherboard.

I believe my rig is nearly nine years old, and others are getting new cards with less RAM, while they install less RAM in their latest builds compared to what I did back then. That seems odd.

You essentially need a new CPU and motherboard (possibly later a graphics card). Otherwise, you’re fine with 2x16GB DDR4 3200 MHz RAM and a 1000W power supply. You should also be able to sell your old CPU and motherboard as a combo to earn some money.

The clock is definitely strange. My graphics card has as much vRAM as my system does with RAM.

Additional parts are also increasing, though at a slightly slower rate.

Perhaps I should consider the effort required for a switch to a different motherboard and CPU. I'm uncertain about the extent of the changes during a complete custom water loop removal. What kind of adjustments might be necessary?
