What occurs when every letter is exhausted?
Generally when setting up partitions in Windows, I understand directory mount points. (Mount to empty NTFS folder)
But I face a scenario where I already have three drives on my Windows 11 PC and several driver letters are active.
I plan to connect another SATA SSD from my laptop, which also has multiple partitions.
Once connected and the PC boots, the total number of partitions might surpass 26.
How will Windows manage the partition system in this situation?
Thanks.
assign a drive or partition to an empty folder in any location under an existing drive letter or directory. Windows will generate a link to the actual partition when you open that new folder. Once done, you can delete the drive letter from that partition or drive.
Based on the suggestion from @USAFRet, it seems you might want to reassess your storage configuration if you're facing a shortage of available drive letters.
UNC is your companion. Study it. Apply it. Text characters were remnants from old systems with limited storage.
