What OC should I aim for
What OC should I aim for
This week I’m finally starting to assemble my new Ryzen PC. The ambient temperatures are between 12 and 14 degrees Celsius. I’m trying to figure out the best overclock target. I know it will depend on the current situation and conditions, not just a simple guideline since this room stays quite cold. My build includes several components: Ryzen 7 1700, Noctua NH-D15 SE-AM4, three Fractal Design case fans, an MSI X370 POWER GAMING TITANIUM, a G Skill Flare X 3200 with 16GB (two 8GB dual channels), an Asus Strix ROG 8GB OC edition, an EVGA Supernova 650 G2 power supply, Crucial Mx500 SSD, SanDisk Ultra 240GB SSD, and a WD 1TB 7200RPM drive. I aim for around 4.0ghz, but I’m not sure if that’s realistic without overclocking before.
If you meant 100MHz, you are right. Also here is a detailed guide http://www.overclockers.com/amd-ryzen-ov...ing-guide/
To hit 4GHz, you have to raise the voltage to 1.3875 V - 1.4 V
Start by checking the current specifications of your CPU. Then proceed to adjust settings gradually. Test each change carefully, ensuring stability before moving further. If any issue arises, reduce the adjustment slightly and retest. Continue this process until you reach the desired performance level.
Great, so I should start at 3.7 right away since that's the turbo boost level. Then raise it by 1mhz, run a post and stress test, and once I reach a stable point, reduce it by one step. Thanks, for being honest—I’d stop at 4.0ghz if I hit that, even 3.9 would be fine.
