PC specifications were initially satisfactory, but I noticed lower frame rates upon first use in late 2019. Comparing average FPS for similar games on the same hardware shows higher performance than what I experience even with reduced settings. My main games are first-person shooters such as CS2, Rainbow Six Siege, and COD. On CS2 at low settings, I see performance in the low 100s to 150s, while siege modes typically range from around 120 to 220 FPS, usually around 140. I adjusted Nvidia Control Panel and game settings, but no GSYNC or VSYNC programs are active. I set unlimited frames for games at 1080p resolution.

At first, I suspected CPU thermal throttling since temperatures would drop to 60-70°C during idle and rise to high 80s during gaming. I upgraded the CPU cooler, which lowered temperatures to around 40°C during idle and 50°C during games, yet my frame rates remained low. This suggests a potential GPU issue. Testing the GPU in MSI Afterburner indicates it is being used properly, but readings are unclear. GPU temperatures can stay in the mid-30s while gaming and reach up to 83°C.

If anyone has suggestions on what might be causing the low frame rates, please let me know what you could try. If you need more details, feel free to ask and I’ll do my best to help.

What is the size of your memory? If it's really 6gb, that might be limiting you a bit. What is the refresh rate on your screen? Are your system's bios and motherboard drivers current? I would also tweak the cooling fan speed on your GPU to maintain temperatures in the lower 70s while gaming.

I meant to specify 16 gb of RAM, but the monitor is currently at 240 hz. I had similar problems with a 144 hz display. Where should I look for the motherboard and BIOS drivers? Also, I'm unsure how to change the fan speed on my GPU.

You can verify updates by entering your specific motherboard model in the support section.
For adjusting GPU fan speed, use MSI Afterburner: open settings, select a box, click on the fan tab, enable the fan settings box. You can then modify fan speeds to suit temperature needs. Typically I opt for a more powerful setting, around 10 percent higher than the temperature, such as 50°C with 60% fan speed. Feel free to customize your preferences.
To monitor GPU performance, use GPUZ.
Also, ensure your GPU is running on PCIe 16x 3.0 and that your memory operates at 300MHz.

Hello
@strawhat93
And I’m ready to assist you with your issue.
Initially, I’d like to check if you’ve optimized your system. If yes, kindly inform me. Often, improving Windows can be more beneficial than fine-tuning the game itself. Should you not have done so, feel free to try it and see if it resolves your concern. "Tech YES City" offers a solid optimization guide:
A useful tip that isn’t always highlighted is to enable hardware accelerated GPU scheduling. Otherwise, it’s possible your CPU might be the cause, especially since the third generation of Ryzen CPUs is now five years old and their performance has declined. If you’re confident in your approach, you can apply various registry adjustments as detailed in the tutorial.
Additionally, I’d appreciate knowing the operating system you’re using, as this can slightly affect performance. Newer OS versions, like Windows 11 with its virtualisation-based security, may offer more optimization opportunities. Sharing your OS would help me suggest suitable changes for your device.
