What methods exist to increase storage capacity on a Chromebook?
My Chromebook has limited storage space and I need more. There are no additional slots, just an m.2 Wi-Fi port with a card already installed. I'm thinking about using an adapter to add a MSATA drive but then losing Wi-Fi access. Is there a solution to get an adapter that would allow both a Wi-Fi slot and a MSATA slot?
the only solution is to discard it and purchase another with greater capacity.
these devices aren't really built for local storage; they encourage you to keep everything online, relying on cloud services and web platforms instead of local options for everyday use.
you need to choose something else if you want to avoid this scenario. a chromebook is built that way. if your requirements differ, consider another device.
That's the only usual choice. However, I understand there are m.2 Wi-Fi adapters to MSATA with reduced speeds, which works for me. What I need is still Wi-Fi connectivity.
Sorry. I don't know what adapter you're checking, but unless it's a splitter for two ports, it's likely one or the other. It seems such a thing isn't really possible, even if you find some cheap imitations. Good luck with your search.
Use the external storage device (external SSD).
Alternatively, you can use an SD card if your Chromebook has one.
He likely had another option available instead of using that specific adapter.
Absolutely, using the SD card slot and connecting a USB drive is going to be quite inconvenient wherever I am.
There would be those extremely small thumb drives. They'd just barely protrude, making removal nearly impossible unless required. I own one in my car for music, and it's so compact it's nearly invisible! Probably the most practical option is to use what you have.
