What methods exist for reducing voltage on the GPU and CPU?
Hi, I have a 2060 and a Ryzen 7 3700X. The latter keeps temperatures between 58 and 62°C when idle, and up to 70°C during games—though rarely. In contrast, the GPU in Red Dead Redemption reaches as high as 81°C. This causes the PC to be very noisy, so I was told to undervolt both parts. I wanted to ask you about this approach.
For the 3700X, the most effective method is to restrict the PPT. Alternatively, you might attempt a negative voltage offset, though this could lower performance because of clock stretching.
Regarding the video card, you need to use MSI Afterburner; otherwise, you can either reduce power or adjust the VF curve.
Do you have the stock AMD cooler included with your 3700X? What type of case are you using? How many fans do you have, their sizes, where they're placed, and which direction does the air flow come from?
It seems the 220T was equipped with three fans at the front, likely directing airflow as exhaust. The top position probably held the CM Mirage (240) for exhaust purposes. Did you install a 120mm fan in the rear exhaust area?
