What methods exist for adjusting a laptop's performance beyond its default settings?
Hi guys, I just bought a used laptop from Germany, an ASUS X70ABseries. It seems like it was overclocked by someone before me. WHY? The CPU and motherboard temperatures rise from 60 to 80°C, and the battery lasts only about one hour max. The CPU is an Athlon 64 QL65. I've already tried AMD's software to overclock it, but it didn't recognize my CPU... I don't know why!
The CPU was produced in 2007. The battery problem might simply be due to age, possibly around 12 years old.
Disconnect the power cord and battery, then look into methods to reset the BIOS or remove the battery. Setting the BIOS back to defaults will restore it to default settings and eliminate any OC functionality if present.
Another issue is an outdated CPU, battery, and architecture—very inefficient by current standards.
The ASUS X70AB model was shipped with a Turion CPU.

The signs suggest it might be running at a higher speed than intended. Laptop parts often get warm, and considering its age, the battery performance seems unexpectedly strong.
