My 2080ti is experiencing extremely high temperatures during gameplay, especially in Runescape where it reaches up to 82°C. I recently purchased a new PC case, which you can find below. Previously, I was using a Thermaltake tower 900 for a watercooling system, but because of budget constraints, I opted for an air-cooled solution instead. Now I’m using a Lian Li LANCOOL case and have managed to maintain temperatures around 70°C. However, it’s still a bit high. I’m wondering if it’s possible to underclock the GPU so it stays below 60-65°C. I’ve installed Afterburner, but I’m unsure how much adjustment is needed or whether lowering all settings is safe.

The simplest MSI Afterburner interface to use is the one shown. Click Options (usually a gear), go to the top tab, then the User Interface at the bottom. The skins are located there. I’m currently using the MSI Cyborg Afterburner skin by Drerex Design with traditional skin settings.

Adjust the Core Clock slider to the left to undervolt the 2080 Ti.

My GPU is an MSI RTX 2080 Gaming X Trio, which will have different base stats.

This GPU is quite capable, and it's not unusual for it to perform well into the 90s. Many users note their cards also reach the 80s. If you have a CPU that generates a lot of heat, ensure your case fans are positioned properly to circulate air and keep the system dust-free.

You're concerned about the 70°C because it's an ideal condition for that card.

I wouldn't be concerned.
Graphics cards tend to heat up, but they're designed to handle that.
It's common for a graphics card to settle on the best possible temperature and operate at full capacity there.
80°C is considered normal.

The heat in a small room is unpleasant, especially with the glass on my case getting as hot as a radiator. Also, playing games like Runescape shouldn’t be affected by those temperatures—not just during gameplay. I initially thought about water cooling, but I ran out of money. Now I’m wondering if I can unclock my GPU and how to do this using Afterburner?

I didn't review the link about afterburner that was shared at 5:51 because it wasn't necessary for my current task.
