How can I increase the clock speed of my i5-3470s? It's currently running at 2.9 GHz with just 2 cores, and it's an ASUS TUF PC with an LGA1155 socket.

It's possible you're misreading the details or using the incorrect CPU name. The i5-3470S actually features 4 cores and 4 threads... Make sure it's not a i5-3470T, as this model only has 2 cores.

The base frequency is 2.9, but on Turbo (which turns on automatically) it can go up to 3.6Ghz. Modifying non-K/X chips overclocking is a difficult task you shouldn't attempt, as it may affect the CPU and other components. Refer to: https://www.overclock.net/forum/5-intel-...cking.html

on the intel page it mentions four cores, yet the task manager or cpu z indicates just two cores.
