That's completely normal when you try to view an NTFS volume on a different Windows computer. You may need to take ownership of the affected folders.

Note that if you have an ad-blocker installed then the site may refuse to show you the content. If you don't feel like disabling it then there's a version

I thought you could retrieve the files directly. It seems I need to log into my previous user account on the old hard drive to get to them. The files aren’t showing up in programs even though I can access them, and it looks like there’s a permission issue. I’ll check your link.

Yes you can reach them, but the security settings for your private files will assign access to another user. That's why you're not currently allowed to open them. Obtain permission from the relevant folders and you should be able to proceed—though it might take some time to adjust all permissions, so be patient. To locate your personal information, navigate to the Users folder at the root of the old drive and then into your personal directory.
