I've never seen a harddrive like this before. It connects to the laptop via a small plastic strip. I need to extract it from its case for another device, but I'm not sure how to do that.

Use screws on the side where the extension cable is attached, and disconnect it from the drive by unplugging the black end.

I attempted to unplug the black component but it remained connected. I'll try again. Thank you!

If you still can't remove it then let me know the laptop's name and model. I may be able to find a service manual for you.

It could also be a special batch of disks, perhaps? That way it would be fused and wouldn't come off?

I'm wondering if this might be the case. I plan to retrieve it later, but does that imply the black section is attached to the case and can't be taken off?

The goal is to obtain the data from the old laptop, which I don’t remember the password for. If the hard drive can’t be taken out, finding the simplest method to get the information for someone without technical skills is important.

Is this identical to the DP/N designation, or does it refer to the service tag? I believe the sticker with the model number has been damaged.

I managed to free myself from the issue. The problem now is that I can't reach my files. They are old high school pictures, and I'm missing some folders. What should I do to retrieve the photos?
