Don't do it!
The Windows registry does not need cleaning, if it did then Windows would contain a tool to do it. In all the years I've been helping people troubleshoot PC problems I have never seen a problem that could be convincingly laid at the door of a redundant registry entry. I have however, seen many problems caused by overly aggressive registry cleaning.

As others have mentioned, performing a registry clean-up is an old and risky approach that shouldn't be attempted on a contemporary Windows system.

That's correct. I agree with this. I'm pretty sure I damaged my laptop by using ccleaner to clean the registry.

There was also a period when the cleaner was compromised, with a virus inserted into their software. If such an incident occurred again and you were among those who downloaded it, it could pose a risk.
