They are still functional but you can reach higher performance like the person I talked to before. A 970 isn't significantly faster than a 960, yet they handle 1080p smoothly with a blend of high, low, and medium options. Or at least, they seem to be struggling since the last update, especially when the game freezes during window switches. My older 1070 could manage just under 60 FPS in 1080p with high-ultra settings, which contradicts the advice given. They tend to play it safe on the lower end. Still, a 770 is just too slow no matter what you consider.

The 770 matched the speed of a 960 with 2gb, yet the combination of features and VRAM needs marked the GTX 960 4gb as the limit.

Yes, and even if the game could load at 720p, it would still be difficult to play. I'm certain you could enjoy titles such as Borderlands 3 or GTA V, but Hogwarts Legacy would push my RX 6800 XT to its limits. I regret having to share this disappointing update, as it doesn't bring me any joy. The truth is that cards stronger than the GTX 770 wouldn't function well in Hogwarts Legacy.
