Hey everyone, right now I'm playing in silver 2 in Rocket League, but I really feel like I'm not good enough—like I don't belong there. I can handle the basics and even do airdribbling, but in actual matches I just panic and miss the ball, especially on easy shots. I watch lots of YouTube tutorials, but I still struggle in real comp games. I can't seem to stay focused during a match. Any tips to improve? I've played around 100 hours so far.

Keep going. The longer you invest in it, the more comfortable you'll become on the field, and you won't panic.

It seems you're taking it too seriously. Just keep in mind it's just a game and you're supposed to have fun.

The only way to get better is by continuing to play, just like with most things. You might want to adjust your strategies, slow down a bit more, or increase your aggression and see what works best. Don't give up if you start losing—keep going. I always played every match until the end, even when I lost 10-0 because I was tired of everyone quitting in Rocket League as soon as they began to lose. Facing stronger opponents helps you get better.

I have a friend who is diamond 2 and he supports me a lot. Thanks for the advice, I think just keep practicing and don't give up, then.

I believe it might be possible, though I feel like I'm analyzing it too much.

I can't air dribble and I'm at champion level in doubles. Diamond everywhere else. It might be that you're trying to do too many flashy moves in a game when you could keep it simpler. Just my $0.02

Initially, keep it light. This game requires thousands of hours to become proficient. I’ve spent nearly 500 hours and am still in the challenging phase; Diamond players seem to have an edge. It just takes patience.

It’s true that without XP and without people laughing at you for it... start playing against the bots first. There’s a lot to absorb and practice. I began with two-player matches, then progressed to one bot versus me, and eventually moved to three-player scenarios. I started at the pro level and worked my way up to all-star 3 bots against me. Once you can consistently beat them, you’ll be definitely better than a silver player. But it’s tough. Facing three top-tier bots is always demanding. It will sharpen your offensive moves, help you gain momentum, and strengthen your defense. It also significantly boosts your defensive abilities. I found 4v1 to be manageable but still quite difficult.

Another factor that helped me a bit is learning the right strategies and positioning. I picked this up by observing professional players—not their guides, just how they actually play. There’s a big tournament coming up this weekend featuring top talent from North America and Europe.

But remember, as others mentioned... enjoy the process. 100 hours into an e-sport game is still early enough to not worry too much about the effort.
