What KVM device would allow me to change between my PC and my laptop?
I have an HP laptop with a faulty keyboard. Instead of attempting repairs, I prefer to connect it via a KVM so I can switch to it from my main Windows desktop PC. I already use another old Windows PC in this setup using an IOGear KVM, but the connectors don’t match the laptop’s available ports.
Comments & suggestions welcome.
TIA

A suitable replacement keyboard shouldn't exceed 10USD if you locate the appropriate one for your laptop. Please specify the model of your HP branded laptop. It's also important to share the specifications with us, as we can only make educated guesses about the ports available on both your laptop and desktop when setting up a KVM connection.
Thanks. I've looked into swapping the keyboard but thought it would be simpler to rely on the laptop for replacing my old Windows 7 desktop. I'll use my IOGear KVM to switch between the remaining desktop and the laptop. If that setup works, the laptop can stay closed on a shelf, letting me use my wired keyboard and 27" ViewSonic display no matter which machine I'm using.
I think the main task is locating the appropriate adapter. The IOGear harness for the old Win7 desktop has a female VGA port, while the laptop uses a female HDMI port. It looks like I just need a cable with male VGA and male HDMI connectors. These are easy to find—around 6 feet long—but I'd prefer something that fits the size of a thumb drive with the right connectors at both ends.
