You currently have 8GB of RAM installed and are considering a upgrade to 16GB. You’re thinking about getting two additional 4GB modules, but your motherboard only has four slots. After checking your CPU fan, it seems too large for the available slots, so you can only fit two sticks. You’re looking for 2x8GB DDR3 RAM and have a 970 Gaming Pro Carbon motherboard.

You mentioned your motherboard has four RAM slots, but your CPU fan is too large for more sticks, so you can only fit two slots. You’re thinking about getting two 4GB modules, specifically 2x8GB DDR3 RAM, with your existing 970 Gaming Pro Carbon chipset.

Patriot Vipers or Mushkin RedLine Ridgebacks running at 933MHz or higher would provide solid memory performance for DDR3.

These are Viper III sticks, a newer version but with timing that's still a bit off. For example, 9-10-9-27-36 works at 1866mhz. Check the link for more details.

Yes, they are available in a 2x8GB configuration instead of 2x4GB.
