Start here: *How to Ask for New Build or Upgrade Advice* How to Ask for New Build or Upgrade Advice First off, respect where respect is due - this is an adaptation of the Animal's *How To Ask For New Build Advice* Sticky. I created this because there's a lot of posts nowadays asking for upgrade advice both on here and on the CPU forums, and I feel... forums.
Hello, here are some DDR4 compatible CPUs and MOSOs you can consider. You'll be pairing them with GPUs ranging from 4070 to 5080. Your main focus is on sim racing games with Meta Quest 3 VR glasses. Since you already have an Acer PreBuild, you're planning to stick to your existing setup.
The budget for the motherboard and CPU is approximately 400e.
what power supply will you be using with this build ?

you can potentially also go with aging AM4 and something like 5800x(t) in your price range
but 12700KF is a better processor overall
(though it will take a performance hit in gaming if paired with slower ddr4 memory ,
but if you want to save money it is a trade off you must accept) .
Given this pace, prebuilds could turn out to be more economical.
Do you think having an MSI Mag A750GL PSU is enough? You might consider upgrading to a DDR5 platform in the future when costs are lower.
for 4070 (ti; super) / 5070 ? yes it will work fine.
for 5080/4080 it might not be ideal:
it could manage it, but I wouldn’t suggest pairing it with an i7 in the long term.
of course you can always slightly undervolt your graphics card to cut power consumption, which might reduce performance by about 5%.
Could you clarify if you're considering purchasing a larger power supply unit?
