Hello Everyone,
Following a disappointing experience with a NZXT prebuilt, I've chosen to construct a new PC. I've previously assembled computers, but it's been some time. My most recent build was a 4790k/GTX1080 system.

The variety of motherboard slots, graphics cards, and CPU generations has made it difficult to decide what to purchase for a well-rounded setup.

I plan to shop at the Marietta GA location of Micro Center:
Micro Center - Computers and Electronic Device Retailer
Specializing in computers and related items, Micro Center stands out with an extensive selection of PCs and gadgets. The store is committed to delivering expert knowledge and outstanding service.
www.microcenter.com

I aim to spend around $800 (excluding the Windows key) but am open to higher costs if it makes sense. My gaming focus includes single-player titles such as Spiderman, Last of Us, God of War, etc. I own two 1440p MSI Gaming monitors and have Amazon Prime, so I could receive my order this weekend if needed. If you know any great deals to acquire these items, please let me know.

Thanks!

You would likely need to install a cooler. It’s possible you’d purchase additional RAM to enable dual-channel performance. With extra RAM available, they offer a 7700x bundle including 32GB DDR5 for $399. For better thermal management, Thermalright coolers are highly recommended in this setup.
If you prefer DDR4, there’s a bundle available with an i7 12700K and 16GB RAM.
They also have the same DDR4 3200 kit bundle paired with an i5 12600K and floor 260.

If your Microcenter model is available, consider this option. It's the latest version and offers improved raw performance over the previous generation, even if it doesn't match NVIDIA's ray tracing capabilities.

I'll definitely check out some videos comparing them. I'm looking for things like DLSS to improve frame rates, which is more important to me than image quality, so I need to see how it works. I wasn't sure where to begin with AMD, which makes it a good starting point.

FSR offers an alternative technology. Depending on your budget, I can suggest a few options. My local Microcenter carries the 7800xt, which is expected to be similar to the 4070.

For around $30 less, my local store has a 6800xt from the same generation, though it’s older but still performs well compared to the 7800xt. This is the card I currently use; I’m satisfied with it.

For reference, I’m not sure if you have this model, but nearby Microcenter had a refurbished 7800xt for $429.

If you look around, you might discover a higher-tier card.
