I'm experiencing performance issues after my PC froze recently, and I'm still unsure whether the problem lies with hardware or software. I've already tried many solutions and tested various fixes, but nothing has worked. In another post, someone suggested it might be a disk issue because I have an HDD, and the freezing could have damaged it. However, I think the cause might be related to the power supply or the motherboard, possibly due to insufficient energy delivery to the components. For example, the white LED above the 8-pin GPU connector hasn't turned on recently, and the CPU voltage seems unstable. What do you think could be the root cause—hardware or software? I appreciate your help.

List your system hardware components & OS version. This will help immensely in aiding to diagnose the problem.

I want to emphasize that I have never experienced any performance issues prior to the recent shutdown.

Your PC's performance has changed noticeably in video games. Previously stable at around 80-90fps, now it fluctuates between 55 and 80, with drops to 50 that happen gradually rather than suddenly. I'm trying to figure out what caused this change.

Maybe temperature throttling is occurring.

I've already adjusted the thermal paste on the CPU, but it remains unchanged—it stays below 60°C under load. However, it was a sudden shift from one moment to another; before the freeze everything worked perfectly, but after the freeze, issues started appearing. Of course, I didn't mention earlier that the PC would freeze even with minor movements of the desktop. I'd get up and it would shift slightly, then freeze again, while the speakers produced a loud, broken record sound. I believe this isn't caused by temperature changes.

Have you attempted a reinstall of Windows? Also, try starting the PC without using RAM, let it run briefly so the motherboard can recognize the missing memory. Turn it off and then install just one memory stick. Perform some testing in games. Additionally, could you explain why the memory is set to 1866Mhz instead of being overclocked to 3200Mhz?

I tried using the "recover this PC without losing files" method, but it didn’t work. Would changing to an ISO image help? I’m unsure if that’s just reinstalling Windows again and need to follow extra steps. I thought it would be similar to installing from scratch, so I should back up everything.

I also wanted to know if the PC can start without RAM when connected via USB, and whether the USB needs formatting.

Regarding RAM, I’m limited to 1866 because my CPU or motherboard doesn’t support more.
