The new wired mouse is now occasionally disconnecting from the PC after being connected via MB io and later through a USB hub or switch. This issue began recently, and even though it worked fine two weeks ago when connected to a USB hub, it stopped functioning for a couple of seconds before restarting and prompting setup again. I bought it a few weeks ago and have been using it without problems so far. I’m unsure whether the problem lies with the mouse itself or with the hub or switch. Any suggestions on troubleshooting steps would be helpful.

Certainly, connect the device directly to the PC without any hubs. If the issue persists, the mouse might have a problem—possibly a damaged or worn cable. If the connection still fails, the USB hub could be faulty.

Well - obviously try connecting it to pc directly (without any hubs).
If disconnect still happens, then mouse has a problem (damaged/worn out cable probably).
If no disconnect, then probably bad USB hub.

I received my answer in a different way. I observed the keyboard (also linked to the hub) also stopped when the mouse did, so it seems likely the USB switch is the issue. But if I bought it a few weeks ago and haven't had any problems yet, why would it be defective? Before returning it or requesting a replacement, shouldn't I try other solutions? Like restarting the PC, adjusting some Windows settings, or something similar?

In Windows Advanced Power Settings, there is a section that allows you to turn on or off USB selective suspend. You should disable it so that the USB port does not suspend under certain conditions.
