What is your favorite AM4 CPU
It varies depending on the task. The 5800X3D performs better in Blender compared to the 3900X during real work, especially when rendering isn't needed. GPU rendering is significantly faster than CPU rendering. While I don’t have a comparison video, my experience with the 3900X was slow and unresponsive after upgrading to X3D. The improvement with X3D was noticeable—it felt much smoother and almost instant. However, the advantages depend on your specific use case; the 5800X3D still lags behind the 3900X in multi-core performance. Many tests focus mainly on rendering or encoding, not the actual workload. It’s hard to capture this accurately because results change a lot based on the scene, project, and type of work.
X3D is really great for gaming. I installed it on my son’s PC and replaced the 5600X. I’d have chosen the 5950X but it was expensive—over a thousand dollars before tax. I went with the 5900X instead, just a bit over eight hundred. My 5600X wasn’t broken, but at that time I couldn’t afford a GPU even if I wanted to spend a lot. I bought the 5900X from my 3 Zen 3 components; it probably gave me the most fun because of its high clock speed. But the 5900X introduced me to 5GHz and more. I experimented with older Intel parts for years, but they just didn’t work. The 3600XT was my first AM4 chip, and it failed, but Zen 3 is way better than Zen 2 in every way.
