I noticed this on the bus recently—it’s a payment card tap terminal used when boarding. It looks like it’s malfunctioning and has switched to an unusual interface. What’s happening?

I reside in Vancouver and have connections with numerous CMBC drivers. The software is Windows Embedded Compact version 7, set up by Cubic Systems.

It seems the system likely runs Windows Embedded with the CE kernel rather than NT, unlike standard Windows XP and newer versions
