The photo orientation complicates identifying exactly what it is, but if it's an RJ-45 connector, you must verify it's correctly punched down to CAT5. Check if it connects properly to your router on the other side. If confirmed, you're good to use it.

Remove the faceplate from the wall to check for connections on the port. Usually, there’s a main location in the house where all network ports are connected. This area could be in a closet or mechanical room.
