What is this?
I've been testing ARK: Survival Ascended and observed some visual issues or a GPU problem, unsure if it's a typical issue or something more specific. It worsens when I reduce the global illumination quality to lower settings, and sometimes the lighting just becomes extremely dim without a harsh blackout. The file I'm working with is 73031736676__960FCC4E-B6A1-4FA6-B509-C195C29356F2.MOV. My rig runs an i3 12100f with RTX 4060, 16GB RAM, DDR4 3600MHz, 2TB KVC 3000 NVMe SSD.
This game often displays too much darkness, sometimes every few minutes and other times for longer periods. The most effective solution I've discovered is using the console command to adjust global illumination settings. While I don't remember the exact phrase, you can try typing "r.DynamicGlobalIlluminationMethod 0" followed by "r.DynamicGlobalIlluminationMethod 1". This should switch the effect on and off. The good part is these commands are saved in your console history, making it simple to use them again later. It's still a bit of a nuisance, though. Edit: I think I've identified it now. It appears to be r.DynamicGlobalIlluminationMethod 0 then r.DynamicGlobalIlluminationMethod 1, which likely toggles Lumen on and off.
Uncertain about this. My work PC didn’t load your attachment right away, but I’m pretty sure I’ve felt the same thing before. It’s quite inconsistent. I see it most often near trees, though it doesn’t always happen. Also bothersome. Updated: I’m using a 4070, by the way. My sister-in-law is also on a 4070 and hasn’t had any of these problems, not even crashes. Very difficult to identify.
