I recently purchased a brand new gaming laptop two months ago, and it has performed well so far (though it gets quite hot 😄). One day, while using a hardware monitor to check temperatures, I noticed my battery wear level was at 18.8%, which is higher than what I expected for a new device. I wasn't sure about the typical wear rate for a new laptop, but this seems unusual. I'm just wondering if this is normal or if I should be concerned. Additionally, my laptop doesn't have an option to cap battery charge at 80% or 90%, but it does include a stationary battery mode for maintaining battery health.

It's the Medion Erazer Beast X40, a brand less recognized outside Europe, yet owned by Lenovo.

I noticed my laptop's battery showing unusual and changing capacity measurements before its wear reached 18.8%. To be precise, I've only used this device for about two months at most. From what I've learned, most users don't reach such a high wear percentage even after two years of use, unless it's a gaming model.

The battery showed unusual changes in capacity readings before reaching an extremely high wear level of 18.8%. I only had the laptop for about one and a half to two months, and most users don’t expect such a high wear percentage after just two years, unless it’s a gaming model.

Are you playing games while the charger is connected? If yes, brief charges often make the battery seem to have less power. Allow it to drain completely before resuming, so it can recharge slowly without using your laptop. Check if the app offers a reset feature.

Yeah, I always game with the charger in. I’ve been told to try and do a full charge and discharge because it might just be the computer misreading the battery, the person said I should do it three times and see if it updates, so far I’ve done it once and nothing. Also can you let me know what APP is and I’ll check please.

An app should come with the original operating system from the factory. It needs to be reachable via a right-click on the battery icon in the taskbar. That’s how it works on HP, or you can check the manufacturer’s website.
