This isn't limited to the software alone.
If you only capture data without a full clone, the resulting images lack boot information and can't fix any boot problems. This applies to all cloning tools.
I frequently use Norton Ghost and it functions as expected. However, it fails on new disks.
Windows includes an built-in imaging feature; the entire installation process relies on it.
DISM is useful if you know basic CMD commands—you can leverage your standard Windows installation media to access the rescue environment and use DISM to restore or create new images.
It also offers the append-image option, which appends files to existing images for incremental backups.

Macrium Reflect Images contain complete boot information and partition details. Restoring from a full drive image onto a new drive results in a fully functional system.

Yes, that's exactly what I meant, if you just focus on the OS drive in a typical system where the boot information is stored on the boot partition, then it won't start unless the boot partition is fixed or rebuilt in another way. Also, he was referring to ghost issues.

Not sure what you're saying.
There is no "some other way" needed.
The boot partition is part of the Image.
No idea about Ghost, never used it personally.

The complete image exists, but capturing just a specific section, like the C drive, may affect whether the boot information is present.

Certainly.
If you handle it incorrectly, it won't function.
In the same way, you can create a copy of just a portion of it too. For example, merely the C partition.
This would also not be bootable.

I put it in place some time in 2023 at your advice. Around November or December, there was a release noting it was the final version and support would stop. The model I have now is v8.0.7783.

With a lifetime license, there will be no negative consequences.

You're in a good place.
I have the free license on most of my systems, though one is still an exception.
It keeps functioning properly.
My primary system uses the paid version since I needed both the Incremental and Differential Images.
