What is the suggested RAM for a CPU with an Intel 285K processor?
I'm still up to date on the latest developments xD. The 9800x3d has definitely been a standout in gaming hardware. I chose the 285K for several reasons: 1. Around 30% of my gaming sessions involve Football Manager, which suits productivity-focused chips. It's essentially a game but operates smoothly like video editing software. It handles roughly 23,000 calculations per second. Right now I own the 14900K, which was the top choice for FM games, closely followed by AMD’s high-end X productivity chips and Apple’s M4 Max Ultra. The 285K really outperforms the 9800x3d in terms of overall performance, so I opted for it. 2. There were reports that the 285K saw a performance boost of about 5-10% after a BIOS update in January. Comparing reviews before and after 2025 makes the improvement clear. I also believe the April BIOS update further enhanced its capabilities. For example, check this benchmark from last month: it compares the 285K with the 9800x3d on April 18th after the BIOS update. I was surprised to find that despite using more power and generating less heat (Liquid Freezer 360 vs 420), the 285K still performed better. It’s puzzling—maybe it had a different thermal curve, incorrect paste application, or something similar. Still, it doesn’t seem like the CPU was throttling too much. P.S. I’m also testing it on Linux, and it runs faster by about 6-8% compared to Windows: 3. Beyond gaming, I use this machine for work—mainly heavy browser tasks. I considered adding a 9070XT to it so I could play on my S95B OLED TV occasionally and compare it with my PS5 Pro. I don’t need a GPU for Football Manager, but I might start playing more games on my 2K monitor. I also noticed *Tempest Rising* (PC-only) reminds me of the old days of Red Alert! 4. I purchased the 285K using a 55% employee discount. That deal was tempting. If I had to pay full price, I’d probably stick with my 14900K.
In fact, my uncle runs a team at Intel handling the Memory Controller and informed me about the significant efforts made to support CUDIMM.
haven't made a decision yet, but I noticed the z890 boards all passed tests with 8200 or 8400 specs (not 8800):

So... should I opt for CUDIMMs? It looks like the 285K benefits really stand out compared to AMD chips.
