I am organizing to run my own Minecraft server in Australia using my PC. Since I need to share my IP with others, a virtual machine would be ideal for security. As this is my first time setting up a server, any guidance would be extremely helpful. Should I take precautions to protect my PC while others know my IP?
PC specifications: Ryzen 9 5900x, ddr4 3600mhz 16gb, rtx 3080, 500 gb empty sata ssd, msi b550a pro motherboard, internet speed 50mbps down / 18mbps upload.
Also, is this system suitable for playing Minecraft and hosting it simultaneously?

Minecraft offers a wealth of guidance on how to configure it.

Perfectly, your server should operate on a distinct physical setup.
However, it's possible with a VM if you exercise extreme caution. (I wouldn't)
