What is the point of DirectX?
I've spent a lot of time with computers and software updates, including DirectX. But despite all these years, I still don't fully grasp why DirectX exists or how DX (older versions) differs from DX12. Could someone help explain this?
It sounds similar to a graphics processing unit that forwards data to the GPU.
It allows the creator to focus on compatibility rather than specific hardware requirements. This is DX's responsibility. A widely accepted format that lets all games and applications work together.
