Do you know how to modify your login name on Windows 11? It seems like you should navigate through Control Panel or User Accounts and look for an option to "Change user name." But there appears to be a missing step in that process. Anyone have any idea about this? You're referring to the name displayed at the start of Windows.

On W11 the account name could be linked to your Microsoft account, therefore you must update it.

Do you possess administrative privileges for this device? If not, someone else does. You'll require assistance from them.

rename any online name including email
press hit +R and enter: control userpasswords2
select your account then update the full name—this is what appears on the login screen... simple

could be related to some older Win11 guides, since the newest "best" versions of Win 11 don’t offer this feature.
based on what you shared, it seems you just take a picture, pick a file (possibly with an image), and then manage your account. This opens up Microsoft.com’s web page where you can update your display name, and also allows signing in using a local account instead. That’s essentially all.
